Other information
Information from the nurse
We can all help control the spread of infectious diseases through early recognition and action. A sick student could contaminate staff and students, and this is particularly dangerous for our immuno-compromised and pregnant community members. Therefore, it is the parents responsibility to keep a sick child or a child who appears to become sick at home. Please report all cases of infectious diseases directly to our school office, as this will help us to monitor conditions and prevent the spread of illnesses. Any student suspected of having an infectious disease must be seen by a doctor, as only the doctor can properly diagnose illnesses. A list of the most common notifiable diseases and more information about them can be found here.
As a quick guide, you should not send your child to school if any of the following symptoms are present:
Temperature above 38°C
Acute cold, sore throat or persistent cough
Vomiting, nausea or severe abdominal pain
Diarrhoea
Red inflamed or discharging eyes
Suspected and untreated head lice
Acute skin rashes or eruptions
Other symptoms of acute illness
Please remember, your child should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school after illness. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Infectious Diseases: Please see this useful website about infectious diseases. You can download the information in other languages as well.
Notification of Head Lice:. Please find detailed information from our nurse about the right treatment here.
Tick information: With the beginning of spring, ticks become active. Please find detailed information here.
Home Language Support UPDATE: we are happy to inform you that we have an opportunity to support the following home languages: Turkish, Ukrainian, French, Hindi, Russian reading & handwriting (Primary) and literature (Secondary). Thank you to those parents who have offered their support. Please fill in the form so that we can get the ball rolling with this grassroots project. Please note, these classes are aimed at home language students, they are not currently aimed at students new to the language. See more: expression of interest form
Car Pooling: If you are interested in car pooling, you can connect with each other via an interactive map. Add your location, if interested. This is to avoid the data protection restrictions. Please have a look at this guide.

As the year is coming to an end, we would like to thank all families and staff for their continued trust and support. The Early Years team has been able to continuously offer a stable and high quality programme for the children in our care, despite the difficult situation in Germany, to hire and retain qualified and recognised staff. We consider ourselves fortunate and are undertaking some structural changes to further strengthen the team and quality of education. Please read below the staffing letter and the information about the monthly EY Team Meetings resulting in a shift of opening hours. While we bid farewell to some families and members of staff, moving on from MSF to new destinations, we are looking forward to welcoming many of you back in the new academic year. We are wishing everyone a relaxing and joyful summer time.

Early Years Staff Meetings – Important Opening Hours Change
As discussed with our Parent Representatives, from August 2024 we will be introducing EY staff meetings on a monthly basis to ensure a regular professional dialogue and high quality education across all classes. School will close early on these days and in order to provide the same hours of care for families, we will be opening earlier, at 07:45, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week. We hope this will also help with the drop off situation during the construction phase. The updated calendar can be found here.
Professional Photos for Pedagogical Concept & Marketing Materials
08th July, Monday
We would like to update the photos from our pedagogical concept and take some new photos for representation purposes. Our photographer Anastasia Schmid will be taking photos of our Early Years students, staff and facilities for that purpose and we ask for parental consent for this by completing a consent form (printout available in your child’s class).
Please fill in the form.

From the ALN corner:
How can parents help their teenagers build negotiation skills: the ability to present a point of view in a thoughtful way, constructing an argument using a logical thought process, while taking account of the bigger picture that provides the context for whatever is under discussion. It is also about the ability to listen to those with whom one disagrees, taking on board points made by others. All the while however, holding firm to important principles. The ability to argue effectively is an important skill for teenagers to develop as they approach adulthood. It is a skill that will make them more marketable to potential employers. Also, it will help them build stable adult relationships. Finally, it will help them in situations where they need to be able to listen to, and negotiate with, others. But this is not a case of developing a life skill, all of whose benefits lie at some stage in an uncertain future. See the article: Helping teenagers argue … effectively
