Information from the nurse
We can all help control the spread of infectious diseases through early recognition and action. A sick student could contaminate staff and students, and this is particularly dangerous for our immuno-compromised and pregnant community members. Therefore, it is the parents responsibility to keep a sick child or a child who appears to become sick at home. Please report all cases of infectious diseases directly to our school office, as this will help us to monitor conditions and prevent the spread of illnesses. Any student suspected of having an infectious disease must be seen by a doctor, as only the doctor can properly diagnose illnesses. A list of the most common notifiable diseases and more information about them can be found here.
As a quick guide, you should not send your child to school if any of the following symptoms are present:
Temperature above 38°C
Acute cold, sore throat or persistent cough
Vomiting, nausea or severe abdominal pain
Diarrhoea
Red inflamed or discharging eyes
Suspected and untreated head lice
Acute skin rashes or eruptions
Other symptoms of acute illness
Please remember, your child should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school after illness. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Parent Event Overview 2024/2025
Updated: late pick up fee schedule

Congratulations to all our students who participated in Night of the Arts. It is not easy to stand in front of a large crowd and perform, either as a soloist or as part of a group. It is the very definition of being a ‘Risk-taker’, challenging yourself to go outside your comfort zone and trying something new. Not only is this beneficial to the performer, but there are also many members of the audience who are inspired during the Night of the Arts, each year, to go out and take up a new interest. So while you may not be the next ‘Ed Sheeran’, you could have inspired the next one…who knows! The range of talent on show was astounding, we had dancers, singers and musicians and every student was successful in showing how they have progressed in their area of interest. As always our superstar PA teacher, Ms Sibbitt, was at the heart of the organisation for the event and made sure that more children than ever had a chance to perform. We all feel very lucky and proud to have her as a teacher at MSF.

Late Pick-up After Clubs
We would like to remind parents about the importance of being on time to collect their children from clubs. Parents who arrive late will be charged a late fee.
Head Lice & Fevers
We seem to be facing a growth in head lice cases in the school at the moment. Please check your children regularly for lice, and
inform us if you find them. If you do find head lice you must use a medicated treatment/shampoo, before sending your child back to school. We would like to remind everyone that any child with a fever is not allowed to come to school. Even if medicine can reduce the fever, there is still an underlying illness that can easily be passed on. There is a lot of flu and colds going around at this time of year and we really need to try to keep everyone healthy.
Outdoor Play
Please make sure your child has a rainproof jacket as students will play outside unless the rain is very heavy.

Message from the ALN Coordinator Ms Armaou
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to address some of the biggest challenges in education today, innovate teaching and learning practices, and accelerate progress towards SDG 4. However, rapid technological developments inevitably bring multiple risks and challenges, which have so far outpaced policy debates and regulatory frameworks. UNESCO is committed to supporting Member States to harness the potential of AI technologies for achieving the Education 2030 Agenda, while ensuring that its application in educational contexts is guided by the core principles of inclusion and equity. UNESCO’s mandate calls inherently for a human-centred approach to AI. It aims to shift the conversation to include AI’s role in addressing current inequalities regarding access to knowledge, research and the diversity of cultural expressions and to ensure AI does not widen the technological divides within and between countries. The promise of “AI for all” must be that everyone can take advantage of the technological revolution under way and access its fruits, notably in terms of innovation and knowledge.
